Kate: a stem cell regular
Kate is a valued stem cell stem cell customer and at Cellaviva we are honored to have collected stem cells for both of her births 🥰🥰. With her first birth, Kate experienced a quick and unplanned home birth. She therefore did not manage to enter the hospital before her child was born and we arrived at her home just 20 minutes after the birth and collected a piece of the umbilical cord. It is important to note that stem cells can also be extracted from the tissue in the umbilical cord and not only from the umbilical cord blood.
For her second birth, Kate, based on her first birth, chose a planned home birth. In collaboration with the home birth midwife from the hospital’s home birth scheme, both blood and umbilical cord tissue were collected. Kate now has a complete family repository of stem cells.

“The on-duty Cellaviva midwife, Kristine, was the first midwife on the scene of my unplanned homebirth. I could not have been happier to have someone there who knew what she was doing! She had the impossible task of trying to extract cord blood as 30 minutes had passed since her birth, but did at least manage to get some cord stem cells. She also helped to deliver the placenta which had not happened until she arrived…!
Cellaviva provided a great service on the day, so much so I opted to use them again for my second daughter, even though we hope never to have to use the stem cells in future. “
